ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — If you enjoy Christmas trees but don't have the space or time for one in your own home, this is a weekend for you.
The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation Festival of Trees, at Sandia Resort & Casino, will have 40 decorated trees sponsored by local groups and companies. There will be live entertainment all weekend long, as well as Santa Claus, in a North Pole area sponsored by the Albuquerque Journal.
The event is one of the foundation's biggest fundraisers, said executive director Dawne Bell. It's free to attend, but Bell said she hopes the trees raise $75,000 through sponsorships, auctions, sales and raffles.

This year's event is bigger than last year's, but organizers still hope to grow the number of trees to 50, said Dr. Nancy Croker, a foundation board member and co-chair of this year's event. Because much of the events' cost has been underwritten by Sandia Resort & Casino, 91 cents of every dollar raised will fund programs for children, she said.
Trees are sponsored by a variety of groups, from mail carriers at the North Valley Carrier Station of the U.S. Postal Service to the La Cueva High School football team to Dion's pizza.

Another was sponsored by Flintco, a local, Native American-owned general contractor whose tree's theme was 'A Native Christmas.'
The tree is covered in ornaments made by local Native artists, and is topped by a kachina doll with elaborate plumage. 'It's perfect for the top of the tree,' said Vanessa Rodriguez, Flintco office manager.
